About English Vocab

Lois Wells, M.A. (Hons), LTCL, Certificate in the Theory & Practice of Social Work (from N.Z. Association of Social Workers), Naturopathic Diploma (from the Queensland Institute of Natural Science, Australia), was a secondary school teacher for twelve years and a SPELD tutor working with dyslexics for 25 years.

When twelve, she realised she was lacking in vocabulary and began to keep lists of words and their meanings in notebooks. She soon discovered that Latin and Greek assisted her in the learning of English and used them in her teaching. The vocabularies she presents are based on a lifetime's work.

Lois has also had published a book called 'I'm NOT Stupid, Lazy or Dumb : Aspects of Specific Learning Disabilities' in which she explains how some children, especially dyslexics, learn differently and need to be taught differently. She is a teacher of people with learning disabilities and dyslexia.
